Mar 13, 2019 at 22:41 comment added Al Berko Another rule you one must know about the Jewish Halachah is that for any statement X it is impossible to tell if it is objective (not opinion based) or subjective (opinion based). For example, the Gemora states that calling your parents with private names is not respectful, but then the opinions split - some think it is "absolute" and not dependent on people's opinions (say even in a society that endorses it) and then it would be always prohibited, or "relative" to current people's opinion - in societies where it is disrespectful it'd be prohibited and where its not- be allowed.
Mar 13, 2019 at 22:36 comment added Al Berko There's a general rule in Judaism every newcomer must know - for every accepted Halachah X there's always a condition where not-X overrides X, at least in some opinions. You can ask that question about any Halachah in Shulchan Aruch - "are there conditions where X does not apply?" and the answer is - yes.
