R. Chaim Soloveitchik (1853-1918), also known as R. Chaim Brisker, was a Rosh Yeshiva in Volozhin and served as rabbi in the town of Brisk. He is well known as the progenitor of the "Brisker method" of Torah study, later popularized throughout the world by his students and descendants.
