Is it improper to refer to yourself as creative, or refer to someone else as a really creative person, since Hashem creates everything at all moments and anything we "create" is combining substances that already exist, not creating anything ex nihilo? Or can "creativity" be used for combining things in a "creative" way the way we use it, without issue?

Hashem gave us the character traits that make us who we are. If he made someone have a creative nature / talent then it is a G-d given gift. Calling a person "creative" is not being heretical.

  • If creating can mean both creating out of nothing ( which only Hashem can do) and also creating out of existing objects, than there should be no issue

  • Not in English, where it just means "mentally flexible."

  • That is one sense in which humans are like G-d: we are able to create (on a lower scale, not quite from nothing, which is something only G-d can do).
