The Mishnah Berurah rules that only in a time of need can one rely on the Vilna Gaon's ruling that the halacha follows Rebbe Meir in allowing one to benefit from a Jew's shogeg melacha on Shabbos. Do any poskim allow one to rely on the Gaon's ruling in this case even not in a time of need?
