Mar 30, 2018 at 3:07 | comment | added | Naftali Tzvi | The mitzvah is Vhagadta not hallel (even if one could fulfill this mitzvah by reciting the hallel psalms). In any case I doubt your assertion that one could fulfill Sipur Yitzias Mitzrayim by saying hallel. The brocho on Sippur Yetzias Mitzrayim is recited with the second cup. Hallel is a mitzvah for example on chanuka when the chachamim instituted it as such. Think about the bracha's meaning "Who has sanctified us with his commands and commanded us to..." Only appropriate where we have been commanded Either directly in Tora or thru "dont stray" (Tora command to follow Rabbinic enactments
Mar 29, 2018 at 2:10 | comment | added | DanF | @NaftaliTzvi You've put a bit of a spin in your comment. "Brocho is recited on hallel when hallel is a mitzvah." What qualifies Hallel is being a mitzvah? I would think Sipur Yetzi'at Mitzrayim is a mitzvah. The Seder includes that mitzvah. Wouldn't the Hallel in the Hagadah be attached to that mitzvah, also, and, therefore, require a bracha?
