Jul 24, 2023 at 14:39 comment added mbloch @JoelK excellent, thanks a lot, doing exactly this - a better Stackexchange system would automatically take a copy of links at the time of writing the answers....
Jul 24, 2023 at 13:09 comment added Joel K The link to R. Gutnick's article is dead. You could link to here if you want (p26) rabbinicalcollege.edu.au/media/pdf/533/tBHY5338853.pdf
Mar 22, 2022 at 1:03 comment added Double AA "According to a number of opinions the spacing of Shulchan Aruch Harav is not ideal for Ashkenazim." This seems backwards to me. It's more obvious that the Taz is not kosher for Chabadnikim than it is that the SAhR is not ideal for Ashkenazim. (Personally I'm a big fan of the Chabad style parsha breaks.)
Mar 15, 2021 at 14:23 comment added MichoelR There is an assumption being made here that I don't think is obvious. The original question, after all, was talking about tefillin knots. Are you sure it's relevant to talk about the parshiyos? - The questioner asked about that matching of issues, but did you answer? Maybe they are independent.

Feb 1, 2016 at 17:23 comment added Double AA Not all Ashkenazim follow the Taz. Many just do like the Rambam. The Taz caught on quickly but it's quite the Chiddush, plus it sounds an awful lot like it's bordering on this issue judaism.stackexchange.com/revisions/27269/1
Feb 1, 2016 at 16:54 comment added jj2 As a side-note: Not to preempt contacting your LOR, but as a possible "general" principle, if one is a "baal teshuva", theoretically speaking, despite Ashkenazi ancestry, they wouldn't necessarily be held to the "Titosh Toras Imecha" here.
