Jan 7, 2016 at 14:45 comment added Daniel I agree with you that the question is unclear, but do you really think that "embarrassing somebody is worse than killing" is true for any reasonable definition of "worse"? I think it's pretty clear that that gemara is not to be taken literally. It doesn't even fit the "relative priority" standard that your answer talks about. If someone points a gun at you and says "embarrass somebody else" do you think you have to refuse?
