I've seen a few questions related to this, but not the specific nature of the question:
What are the standard requirements for verifying one's Jewish identity. Obviously, one's mother must be Jewish, but how is that usually verified in practice? I've heard of parents' ketbuotketubot serving as verification, but what else can be used?
CLARIFICATION EDIT: II normally understand this to be done in the context of getting married. E, e.g. an Orthodox Rabbi requiring verification of Jewish identity of the both parties, etc.
Thanks!
