Apr 19, 2015 at 4:44 comment added msh210 @DoubleAA, you may well be right. But note that I included the word "reliable". Aaron, please check whether my edit matches your intent.
Apr 19, 2015 at 4:43 comment added msh210 Re "If you would like to know what the Bible called the month of Iyyar": note that our (Babylonian) names for the months do appear in the Bible (though Iyar doesn't, I don't think).
Apr 19, 2015 at 4:43 comment added Double AA @msh210 It answers the question now, but I don't think it's what the author intended. I think he intended to claim that whether or not there is some source, any such word-association is meaningless/post-facto.

The question wasn't "is it plausible that '_Iyar_' stands for '_ani Hashem rof'echa_'?" but "is there a source [besides the cited book] that says '_Iyar_' stands for '_ani Hashem rof'echa_'?". Trying to make this answer the question....
Apr 19, 2015 at 1:25 comment added Double AA What exactly have you proven false that is relevant to the question? In general, answering what was asked is a good strategy.
Apr 17, 2015 at 23:34 comment added Aaron Ah, maybe i'm ignorant for how this board works. So if we know something is false, regardless of the question, proving falsehood isn't the point, the point is that we are supposed to only focus on answering the question?
Apr 17, 2015 at 23:32 comment added Double AA While true, this doesn't seem to answer the question.
