Nov 18 at 15:45 comment added Rabbi Kaii "any response" and "binary" is binary
Nov 18 at 13:51 comment added Double AA @RabbiKaii "If so what exactly was the test?" The test, like all real life tests, was to give him a situation and see how he responds. Life isn't binary multiple choice.
Nov 18 at 13:47 comment added Rabbi Kaii @DoubleAA the reason I ask is the "because you did not withhold your son". I guess praying for mercy and then not withholding would have been A+? If so what exactly was the test? I guess I need to read your source
Nov 18 at 13:45 comment added Double AA @RabbiKaii Praying to God to save Yitzchak would probably have been better. "Blessing" God upon hearing the command would probably have been worse. I'm sure there are many other possible ways it could have went down. Obviously it's impossible to give exact grades.
Nov 18 at 13:44 comment added Rabbi Kaii @DoubleAA worth asking then, what would have counted as an F, and what as an A+? What did he get, a C? Or a D+ with extra credit
Feb 11, 2021 at 3:28 comment added Double AA @Yishai I'll say it differently. He passed the test enough to get this blessing, but that doesn't imply he passed it with an A+.

Aug 15, 2014 at 14:37 comment added Double AA It doesn't to me...? At least not of his behavior at the Akeida. If you give anyone successively harder tests, they'd eventually fail, at which point you'd know definitively what level they were at. Just because Avraham failed this test doesn't mean he's evil. He's still at a level worth blessing, as evidenced by previous successful tests.
