Whether or not God is to be blamed for the resultant product is debatable. Incidentally, the earlier authority one relies on, the simpler and more intuitive halakha is, and the less artificial parameters will be imposed on that which had hitherto been left to individual judgement. | |

Before then, people had the capacity to form their own heartfelt praises and prayers that were profound and true. We lack that capactiy, which is why we have the strict texts to say nowadays. They are essentially our divine enlightenment and 'prophecy'. | |
