If you aren't prepared to be part of a collaborative site, this might not be the place for you; try a blog instead, where you have complete control. You are always welcome to raise issues of site governance or features that could plausibly be addressed on Mi Yodeya Meta, the designated place for such discussions.

Jun 24, 2013 at 20:06 | comment | added | user2800 | @Seth J I have already tried re-editing what has been edited but it never seems to work. I am very careful what I write and stand by it. If someone edits who does not know the subject it can never be right. The only way is also to leave my original post. My regular posts do not get as many comments as others do, that can be because they are never understood or that I explain them so well that there is no need to clarify them.

Jun 24, 2013 at 17:47 | comment | added | user2800 | @WAF I am saying this site is unreliable. Since they have the practice of editing posts instead of leaving them and just doing what they consider an edit as a further new post. This often is a result that the 'editor' has not looked at sources quoted or misunderstood them or adds on to the post what he has not mentioned.

Jun 24, 2013 at 15:39 | comment | added | WAF | @SethJ I don't know. I think one of the most common questions asked of both m.y members and the Mishna B'rura is "WHAT ARE YOUR SOURCES?" At least in that sense, the threshhold of scrutiny is the same.
Jun 24, 2013 at 15:32 | comment | added | Seth J | @WAF, I think he's saying it's not subject to the same pitfalls as a collaborative website, but that it (also; I infer from this that the same applies to the web) shouldn't be relied upon without consultation with one's Rav.
Jun 24, 2013 at 15:26 | comment | added | WAF | @annex So you are saying this site and a printed book are exactly the same?
Jun 24, 2013 at 14:54 | comment | added | user2800 | Considering my own input here. It is frequently misunderstood and changed in the editing even on simple matters. Mishne Berura may be a common sefer written for the masses but is far from simple. A rov shouldnt really be using it for halacha, but should start at the gemoro and the original sources. It wasn't made for rabbonim. That is why he never made on yore daioh.

Jun 24, 2013 at 14:37 | comment | added | Isaac Moses♦ | It may be that how an individual should behave and what an online community should express as community policy and blanket advice to readers are two different things, with the former able to incorporate more nuance, such as the distinction between complicated and simple questions.
