Oct 3, 2023 at 4:32 comment added Isaac Moses This post would be a great deal more compelling if you could back up and qualify your assertion about Judaism's attitude about other substances with something more substantive than "which I assume is frowned upon." More crucially, the post currently poses one question in the headline and another in the body, leading to unclarity about which answers are supposed to address. Please edit to make the post coherently pose one question.

Oct 1, 2023 at 20:14 comment added Rabbi Kaii @DoubleAA have you ever met a child who tried coffee and liked it? You have strong opinions about whiskey, but I wonder why you defend coffee? Is it just because whiskey is a very clear assault on one's gag reflex, but you think coffee is less obvious? Why?

Sep 1, 2023 at 16:48 comment added Rabbi Kaii @DoubleAA Thanks. I correct: a Jew is supposed to be in 100% control of the aspects of himself that Hashem gives over to his control :)

Sep 1, 2023 at 15:33 comment added Rabbi Kaii @Dov it might be a hashkafik issue, a Jew is supposed to be in 100% control of himself. An addiction represents a lack of control.
Sep 1, 2023 at 15:29 comment added Dov I assume it is a question of whether it causes harm or not. In the case of alcohol, smoking and drugs etc. that is creating an addiction that creates bodily harm, whereas caffeine is not as dangerous
