Stack Exchange employs me as a Community Manager. I've been known to respond to jericson@stackexchange.com.

You can read about what I've done over the years in my curriculum vitae.

On a personal note, I'm married and have three children. Our oldest son loves school, friends, games, and reading. (He can't wait to get on our LEGO® Answers site, but he's not quite old enough. My posts there are usually at his request.) Two of my children happen to have been born on the same day. I sometimes write about that experience.

Don't have time for a full review of something? Why not try my 5-second reviews?

Occasionally, I write a post for Eschewmenical.

I disagree with @Monica that this is a good overview of church history. The section on Paul is overly speculative. There's bits of truth mixed in with obviously misleading statements. For instance, I don't know of any scholar who doubts that Paul wrote the letters to Rome, Corinth, and Galatia, which cover the core of his teaching. The claims about early Christian synagogue and Sabbath practices ought to be sourced.

If you want to "explore the Jewish roots of Christianity" you might consider asking on the Christianity site. (But the answer you got was enlightening to me.)

From the Christian perspective, the real dispute began with Paul of Tarsus around 50 CE. (Stories about Jesus show that he was in conflict with other Rabbis He was executed because Rome saw him as a revolutionary and there is a strong implication that the crowds turned against him when he claimed divinity. But those stories were edited sometime after Paul.)

From what I know of early Christianity, each of these rules seem like reasonable responses to Paul's teachings. There's an indication that #3 had already begun: "For I could wish that I myself were accursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers, my kinsmen according to the flesh. They are Israelites, and to them belong the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises. To them belong the patriarchs, and from their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ, who is God over all, blessed forever. Amen." (Romans 9:3-5 ESV)

comment Is there anywhere that you can get round machine Matzos?
Here's a site that's out of stock on a product that claims to be "Round Matzoth". But note that it is marketed as "COMMUNION BREAD". This is probably not what you are looking for.

There's some interesting discussion over at Biblical Hermeneutics for the curious. (Though, I should point out that some of the answers are not at all helpful for someone interested in Jewish Life and Learning. The accepted answer here is far more useful for that. ;-)

Is the first quote Leviticus 19:17? Leviticus 19:18 works too, if you think through how you would prefer to be rebuked or admonished.

@avi: Do you know if there is a copy of that part of the Talmud online? It would be helpful for us to be able to source on the BH.SE question. (If not, I suppose we could just source your comment. ;-)
