comment What was the birth year of Korach?
+1, very useful, although I doubt that this is as simple as it sounds -- more likely to do with gilgulim than with pshat -- Shaar haGilgulim writes that in that generation, Yisro, Korach and the mitzri were gilgulim of Kain...

@cham So you are saying he was 86+ at the time of the Exodus, and since he likely would not start work before 14 years old, we are looking at 100+ at Exodus time? Please write it up as an answer and I will be glad to accept it, thank you

comment Is there a volume in English that explicates the relationship between each haftarah and its parsha?
@Shamiach useful to know thanks. So he authored vol.6 in that blue edition, and the other 5 were his father's?

@DoubleAA it is important both of us take these with a grain of salt, :) very much appreciated. Thanks for a good chat

@DoubleAA not sure - depends on the tornado: if it is large enough - perhaps not.

@DoubleAA this is not the kind of logic you use on an everyday basis. When you walk into your house and see cooked soup on the stove, it is of course possible that the ingredients were put into the put by a random tornado :) - but you are likely to thank your wife for it nevertheless... Not sure the Universe is that different...

comment How literal is the concept of the Throne of Glory?
@user2016831 i think one this to exclude lying down in the evening and standing up in the morning since Beis Shammai derive from ובשכבך ובקומך, but sitting down is never a problem

My recollection is that if you are the only store in town, it is an aveira deoraisa of lo siten michsol, but if you are not the only one - it is a derabanan of mesayeya, in which case you need clever arguments. Like that heter in Igros Moshe uses the fact that they will eat kosher to allow it, cleverly thinking of the situation not as helping them act inappropriately but helping them eat kosher in a circumstance where they likely wouldn't.

comment What was the Shita of the Rema
It is not correct that Beis Yosef always paskins like the majority vote of his 3. (e.g. I believe he holds we put 3 matzas on the table like the Rosh against both Rambam and Rif.) -- but he does do it most of the time.

@ShmuelBrin I have a Russian compilation of a bunch without original locations in Likkutei Sichos, unfortunately. Let me know if the Russian citation would be of help

comment Mesorah of Rabbeinu Gershom
Not much info on Wiki (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yehuda_HaKohen_ben_Meir), unfortunately. Jewish encyclopedia mentions more (jewishencyclopedia.com/articles/…) and it seems to me he came to Germany from France. A scholar of that level this time period is likely either a talmid or a talmid of a talmid of the Babylonian Gaonim -- but not sure exactly.
