I was privileged to attend a chabura on LMoF. It is awesome, but I needed the initiation in 20th-century theology, the background of the sefer, and RYBS's basic conceptual framework to really get the most out it.

Now that I think about it, returning to "mechubar" status (e.g. entering a river after leaving the plant) may "reset" the water... not sure

comment What do the names Pesil, Pesa, and Pesha mean?
@AviPesa you don't know; so you speculate. Welcome to etymology :) In this case, I used "seems" b/c the page I linked to does not present any specific sources.

@ydk was that supposed to be ambiguous? Because it was.

comment Torah Im Derech Eretz and Torah Umada
That's R' "Hershel Schachter." It's my uninformed impression that RHS is more a talmudist/halachist and less a philosopher. But someone closer to him feel free to refute that. Torah uMadda is a slogan. I think it's meant to be open-ended, as evidenced by the number of interpretations even in R' Lamm's own book. As for Torah im Derech Eretz, there's R' SR Hirsch's conception, and then there are various peshatim on that expression in Avos, and... I presume you mean RSRH [judaism.stackexchange.com/questions/6224/… ?

comment Hebrew Pronunciation- Sephardic Ashkenaz
hmm, I do this. For me, when I was learning the alef-beis at age 20, I hit ayin, and felt like, "what gives? this letter has a pronunciation, right?" I added ches and kuf later. That's about the extend of my sefardization. I pronounce dagesh chazak also, though that's not sefardi per se, just correct.

comment Why Not Eight Days Until a Convert's Circumcision?
@Mbrevda From chapter 13 "The Conversion of Minors" in Lamm's Becoming a Jew, I do not get that impression; rather that a katan can become a ger. (He invokes "zechus hu lo.") p.193: "[at maturity] he is considered to have accepted the court's action on his behalf and to be a full-fledged Jew from the moment of his original conversion." See also the notes there.

@Mbrevda adopt non-Jewish child, conversion is contingent on the child accepting it at coming of age

That Judaica Press English series you link to, has been discontinued, somewhere before Vayikra.
