comment Is there a Jewish symbol for evil?
@user2428118 Re: "despite" Yeshu's teachings: If you say so. That being said, Jews were certainly persecuted, for well over a thousand years, under the banner of the cross. It's no surprise that it's not exactly the Jew's favorite symbol.

comment Which Moshiach are we waiting for?
@DoubleAA "Not really" referred to my forgetting the concept, not the concept itself. Sorry if that wasn't clear. I did not blame Jim for not following some convention (I think I meant "a messiah" and not "the messiah"). I suppose my main issue was that Jim took a two seemingly conflicting ideas (his view of anointing and this question) and started attempting resolutions (negative ones) rather than just asking. Guessing at last year's motive, I think I was trying to motivate him to ask a question about it.

I'm saying that it doesn't have to be a prayer or a demand or anything like that. It can also be, and often is, a simple declaration or statement of fact. (I'm not saying it can't or shouldn't be a prayer or a demand, just that it's not a given.) This is just a comment on that comment :D

@ ray, I don't think it has to be a prayer at all. It could be, I suppose, but it can also be a simple statement of fact, not necessarily directed at G-d. @DoubleAA Would Choni Ham'agel be a better example?

@Fred I meant a source for the statement made specifically about to "We want Moshiach now."

An interesting position to hold, though. That same reasoning could be given regarding any and all prayers.

With a source, this could be an excellent answer. +1

Great answer! I would suggest you consider translating and/or summarizing your sources to make them more accessible to others. (Also, check out our jargon policy and our external sources policy for more info.)
