I am currently employed in the nuclear industry and have university degrees in nuclear engineering and theoretical physics. I am primarily interested in science and philosophy but I also dabble in programing, information visualization, and fine typography.

comment Reconciling the evidence for the Uncertainty Principle with belief in an omniscient G-d
I agree with Double AA that your answer essentially repeats what is said above. You could, perhaps, improve it though. It sounds to me that you are attempting to argue that the epistemological approach of modern science is flawed, but you would have to clarify exactly what you mean.

@BabySeal I agree with your friend that math and science are "made by us" to understand the world, though that is certainly a controversial position. There is something very fundamental about mathematics that can only be appreciated by those with a deep grasp of the subject. As to the irrationality of pi and e, that depends on the nature of your definitions. In a non-flat spacetime, pi can be any value you like. e has similar flexibility depending on your assumptions.

I appreciate all of the comments and the answer. Though this clearly is not a major dilemma, it is nice to explore the bases for moral choices.

I don't know. I suppose that would be a good question to ask.

I am well aware of the differences between masturbation and sex; I participate in both on a regular basis. It is, however, neither healthy or normal for a post-pubescent person to not have any sexual release. When people advocate that masturbation is bad, as you do, they encourage unmarried people toward harmful practices.

I don't beleive that masturbation is "good" though I believe it is perfectly normal and healthy. I also believe that teaching children that masturbation is bad causes more harm than good both to the child and to society through the neuroses that develop as a result. I believe that represed sexuality is actually one factor in the prevelance of militancy amongst extremely religious groups.

I understand your position. I very much disagree with it, but I understand. I do not think that masturbation is bad for people. I just wanted to know why others disagree.

I find it fascinating the degree to which Conservative (Masorti) tradition encourages questioning and logic versus how much the Orthodox and Haredi traditions encourage blind obedience.
