comment Lashon Hara about one of a group
It's not allowed to say Loshon Hora about a group. If it reflects badly on the family, saying LHR against one of them may also be a problem.

comment any point to avoiding meat and shellfish at non-kosher restaurants?
@DanF Is the OP maybe interested in the distinction between Torah and Rabbinic issurim; I realise of course that all Rabbinic prohibitions come under the Torah prohibition not to go against the Chachomim.

@msh210 You're right insofar as "it could still stand to be worded better for clarity". What I meant was - did the people doing the stopping have any halachic justification for their actions.

comment Why ask for forgiveness of our sins after Havdala each week?
The Wikitext entry for המבדיל בין קודש לחול adds several verses, the first of which starts תנה לנו שבוע טוב, thus adapting the zemiroh for .מוצאי שבת

comment Attempting to stand for the kedusho in the blessings before the shema at Shacharis
@IsaacKotlicky I have also seen that the first "kedushah" is explicitly supposed to be said sitting and therefore worry that the "attempt to stand" is misguided.

@loewian Normal answer to your question. It is not given to human beings to know why "G-d want you to write "y9ou" with a 9 in it". , I would be G-d

comment How does sesame oil differ from grapeseed oil?
From Halachically Speaking 4 (10) by Rabbi Moishe Dovid Lebovits Cottonseed oil is extracted from the seeds of the cotton plant after the lint is removed. The Minchas Yitzchok is unsure about its usage for Pesach. Horav Shlomo Zalman Aurbach zt”l says the custom is to refrain from using it. The Tzelhmer Rav zt”l was lenient. The custom in Eretz Yisroel is to be stringent and avoid using it, but in America it is permitted, following Horav Moshe Feinstein zt”l, Horav Yaakov Kamenetsky zt”l, and all the Rabbonim who came from Europe.
