Where are the rules for naming parshiyot explained? The Noach/Toldot distinction is interesting, because parshat Noach starts "eleh toldot noach", and Toldot starts "v'eleh toldot Yitzchak". (so "toldot" is not an eligible word in parshat Noach, but it is in parshat Toldot). |

Source of Dzikov customs Are there two separate seforim named Damasek Eliezer? Googling the name turns up the sefer in connection with Vishnitz. |

Why do siddurim and Shulchan Oruch OC start with Shacharis? A source for the idea that shachrit is the main tefillah of the day can be found in Derech Hashem 4:6:16. I won't quote it here since it's rather esoteric. |

If a product with a Hechsher doesn't say dairy does that mean it's pareve? I've edited it to make this more clear, and to make it sound less like I'm calling the person who asked this question an idiot. I orignally wrote this as a comment on a different question, and copied it over here without editing it as much as I should have. |

What ingredients are dairy? You should look at the heksher. They're accurate. There are lots of reasons why you can't tell whether a product is dairy from the ingredients list. #1: Ingredients that you've never heard of that happen to be dairy (it would take a long time for you to build up a knowledge base to identify these accurately.) #2: when a product is made with utensils that have previously been used for dairy and not kashered. #3: I've heard that manufacturers are allowed to omit ingredients form the list if they appear in insignificant amounts (but I've never tried to find the relevant law to verify this). |

What ingredients are dairy? -1: I disagree with the premise of this question. I think you misinterpreted the answer you're linking to. The heksherim are very reliable about telling you when products are dairy, and pretty much always usually the best way to tell whether there are any dairy ingredients in a product (much better than seeing Sodium Caseinate or Lactoglobulin on an ingredients list and knowing that it's dairy). |

Can you turn your back to the Aron HaKodesh? @tom: I didn't mention the Ashkenazim, because I wasn't sure whether their minhag was to face west, to face the back of the shul, or to face the door. |

How do you extend the sound of a daleth in Shema? I'm sephardic, and I've seen sephardim who always pronounce their dalet as a /d/ pronounce it as a /dh/ for keriat shema specifically, so that they can elongate the dalet. |
