@Yahu, I'm sorry for the confusion, of course the Rambam never doubts free will. I understood the whole substance of this thread as relating to the question of divine foreknowledge vs. freewill. Thats what I think the person who posed this question in the first place was asking and that was the question in the Rambam I was referring to all along.

Tshuva 5:5-"And maybe you'll ask, doesn't God know everything that happens before it happens?...we have no way of understanding how God knows all the creations and their actions, but we know with certainty that man has free will." I said the Rambam starts to address the question of divine foreknowledge and then gives up. @Yahu, you are correct in pointing out the difference between giving up for lack of an explanation and giving up because the desired explanation is fundamentally unknowable (which is what the Rambam is doing here).
