A qualified chemist who somehow drifted into web development. I've learned (to a greater or lesser degree of accuracy) PHP and JavaScript, and would like to learn something completely different for the sake of it. I'm a weirdo who actually enjoys reading (and sometimes writing) technical documentation.

comment A practical joke that leads to a mitzvah
Does the fact that the text in question included both slander and racism have any bearing on the question?

revised Why does belief in Judaism require irrationality?
Tidied grammar slightly. Very small changes really, but I think the brackets and the paragraph break improve readability.

comment What is the source for Rav Soloveitchik's assertion that 1st Century Christians introduced mixed seating for prayers?
None, @Shokhet. Certainly the majority of modern Christian denominations have mixed seating, but I couldn't say when the practice started. This question has already (due to the christianity tag) been automatically posted in The Upper Room, so it may yet garner attention from practising Christians.

comment What's wrong with 'Hip Hip Hooray'?
Are you referencing the Oxford English Dictionary, or some other OED? Since this appears to be a question about etymology, Oxford would certainly be a good source to look at.

revised Does the Jewish tradition command Jews to love Christians?
Tidied grammar. Left in first comma, assuming it to be a descriptive clause rather than restrictive. Works either way, really.

comment Is is wrong to be racist?
I know nothing about the relevant theology, but what you describe is racism. Redefining terms to say it isn't racism just means that it's now racism plus lying (lying about what words mean; lying in your claim to not be racist).

comment How many words are there in Tanach?
You give two different total counts for the number of verses, but only one count for each book, so there's no explanation of where the discrepancy comes from.
