Learning the shapes of the letters as a Baal Koreh @DoubleAA I think there are quite a few times where something could be asur, but it is not asur until someone says so. I think there was a famous case where someone came to the chafetz chaim with a clearly traif chicken, and he said it was fine, there is a machlocet about how a chazakah works in this respect, rosh chodesh works this way, etc. All these things have a basic "reality" to them (it is the new moon or its not, it is one person's property or is not, the chicken is good, or its not) but its not halachicly so until its pronounced. |

10th man drove to shul on shabbat @CharlesKoppelman I go by rov for what? If you mean that I go by rov with regard to the number of times, I would argue that it is not relevant. On a particular, known shabbat, it is a fact that there is no way that there will be ten shomer shabbat people that can get there. Why should there be minyan that shabbat then? |
