The return for Beis Sheini (or lack thereof) So it was an error then? ;) I'm just looking for information on the subject. Sure it must have been discussed somewhere? |

Is Christianity Avodah Zara? @JimThio the sefirot were created by G-d, and are thus His creations, not Him, though they reveal much about his essence in the way l'havdil a beautiful landscape might. |

Is Christianity Avodah Zara? It would seem fairly clear to most that worshiping any person or thing, living or dead, as a god or as G-d would be assur. From my experience, it's much more than just worshiping G-d along with another being, it's worshiping that other being as G-d. (I have a bit of experience, being a former Christian.) |

What are the issues with singing in a secular choir that includes some Christian music? As a former Christian in geirus, I would definitely say that yes, there's avodah zara involved. Obviously, I'm biased and I don't have a source-text to reference, but it would seem fairly clear to be assur. (Perhaps another topic to discuss in this case would be the issue of kol isha.) |

How could the numerals יה and יו be used irreverently? Is it just minhag to maintain the tradition in sefarim which are most certainly shaimos? |

Is there a CD containing some of the melodies of Yom Kippur? That wasn't the melody exactly, but thanks for the link. That helps a lot. |

Am I allowed to answer my friend's Halacha question? I prefix just about everything I say along halachic lines with "You should ask a rabbi, but...". For example, "You should ask a rabbi, but I read somewhere that you need to make eruv tavshilin in order to cook on Yom Tov for Shabbos." Even if you know something is fact, referring someone to a competent halachic authority is a big deal. The more people ask psak from their rabbi, the better, in my opinion (though there's a balance to be struck there too.) |
