@jake, I explicitly did not claim that downvotes or non-votes are negative. I'm actively ignoring the haters, until I have something civil & useful to write. Perhaps other motives for casting votes include spite, punishment, & discouragement. And why is the only substantive, relevant answer not getting positive attention?

@YDK R' El'azar could have applied MiG'zera Shavah (similar verses that clarify each other) or MiBinyan Av MiShney K'tuvim (a general principle derived from two verses).

@jake upvote != approval != respect. Rather, upvote == useful ... useful to demonstrate approval, encouragement, gratitude, respect, thanks, entertainment, and to give points. I asked a practical Halakha question about Derekh Eretz and Hakarat HaTov, and received 2 ad hominem comments (still posted), 2 disrespectful & irrelevant answers (upvoted), and 4 votes to close. Moving the meta elements to the meta site accelerated the negativity. It's all rather discouraging and time-consuming.

+1 Many Gedolim demonstrate respect publicly to all people, sometimes risking their own reputation, who turn simple questions into profound lessons. What do they know that we're missing here? Kal v'Chomer we should show private respect (e.g. an upvote) to those who provide us an opportunity to share our knowledge and receive "reputation" as a reward.

Love the title's parallel with Is getting a tattoo of the Star of David “ironic”?

Didn't you hear ... after Yaakov left, they split into Ohel Shem High School in Ramat Gan and The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. (;-)

Good find. Was this before or after Mr. B. Flatte's brief cantorial career?

@Alex this is a super answer. That YK source could answer another question "When did Jews start dedicating plaques to the Shul?" (;-)
