comment Am I allowed to answer my friend's Halacha question?
I added a citation. @yydl, most desserts have been discussed before, so you're just quoting a book. It's a psak if it was a new food and you rule based on your understanding of the sugya.

comment Can I lend out a Library Book?
I guess one would have to ask them. However, I don't think you need to ask Netflix (or Quikster~) before lending out there DVDs.

comment Why doesn't the OU put DE on food packages anymore?
I heard the same from someone familiar with the OU. The issue is that no one knows this, so they wait 5 hours before eating pretzels, etc. Also, its harder to check every ingredient than a simple DE. Not sure why the OU does this...

comment Do Jews think that all the unbelievers would go to hell someday?
"except for a few special cases" does include certain important beliefs (The Mishnah lists a couple, the Rambam a few more).

comment Is it better to kill 1 person or let 5 die?
Whatever it is, flipping a coin is definitely the wrong thing to do and perhaps a violation of ' לא תנחשו ולא תעוננו '.

comment Is it better to kill 1 person or let 5 die?
If that's the case, I assume shev v'al ta'aseh would also apply. Unless somehow by steering the train the person is already involved in doing something so maybe it would make it less of an action to steer one way?

If you're steering the train and must pick one path then obviously choose the path that kills less people since there's no shev v'al ta'aseh either way, you should try to minimize deaths.
