What is the most widespread Israeli Minhag? According to Ramba"n that is a kiyum mitzva. |

Should the Shliach Tzibur say end-verses quietly to himself before saying them out loud? My vague memory is as good as anyone's but it says that the Chaye Adam holds that only in the case of the end of Sh'ma (i.e. "Hashem Elokechem, emes") should the leader repeat the words he said quietly. |

Are there unnecessary words in torah? I think the assumption is an absolute economy of words in the Torah: if a shorter formulation (using fewer words) of the same exact idea existed it would have been used. |

What can be done to hush someone praying a loud amidah? Good answer. I think it is important to put this in the context of other corrections to the actions of others in which we engage. This is possibly one of the most benign offenses on the spectrum and its commission involves such a positive act that I would be hesitant to take the risks of intervention (including that described by @SethJ). |

Question about Ashkenazi pronunciation I think the phenomenon of Anglicizing pronunciation in these cases includes not only replacement by schwas but also vowel shortening of other types. For example, the second vowel in "kidush" is usually not the same as the second vowel in "kashrus", and often not the same as that in "sidur". |

Are there any scriptural sources that Hashem loves each Jew individually? I have to second @Dan here, without referring to the cliche regarding the loudness of actions. The proof that Hashem loves individuals is borne out by what He does for them. Is the word "love" all you're looking for? If so, it may be all the more difficult because that is an English word and none of Tana"ch is in English. The concept of close attention and care for individuals certainly is. |

Which word in “אלו ואלו דברי אלקים חיים” is חיים modifying? A similarly contextual proof may be adduced from the words in a paragraph preceding the morning sh'ma for Ashk'nazim: "וּמַשְׁמִיעִים בְּיִרְאָה יַחַד בְּקול דִּבְרֵי אֱ-להִים חַיִּים וּמֶלֶךְ עולָם", which sounds like there are two phrases in a row referring to God - Elokim chayim and melech olam. Having no idea which of these lines was spoken first, this could either be the basis of the phrase in elu v'elu. . . or an indication of the interpretation of elu v'elu. . . held by the composer of this t'fila. |

Which word in “אלו ואלו דברי אלקים חיים” is חיים modifying? I think I am missing something. If the adjective needs to be definite, wouldn't that apply equally to Elokim, which, as you say, is also definite? As a side note, is the first noun in construct phrases always definite? |
