Is there a halachik problem with wearing shorts while davening? @doubleaa he doesn't meet others with shorts on business or other meetings. Maybe just on vacations with others of his league. If he wore shorts then according to contemporary holocho it would be fine, however even then I wouldn't because dress codes have changed for the worse. And if a king is wearing something, doesn't mean one should wear it infront of HaShem. |

What is the origin of the dispute on which way to wrap tefilin shel yad? m.youtube.com/watch?v=A5JqkbCputI they tie like this only the last strap goes around the middle of the hand and not the wrist. I tie this way because it is much better to maneuver with a hand that is free at the palm. |

Is the expression “we do not rely on 'bar elahin'” a reference to Christianity? Or we can just agree it was written in Europe in the 12-13th century where Christianity was spread from country to country. |

Responding to “that's not a Jewish name” Do you have a hebrew name? If so you can just say that Monica is the non hebrew name. If you don't have a hebrew name say that it was common to call jewish girls Monica in italy. My none hebrew name is mark and in America it is a common none jewish name but in Eastern Europe if you were named mark you would definitely be a jew. Not only Eastern Europe but in Italy too. I was named after Marcelo mastriani the jewish Italian actor. |

Singing Lecha Dodi before Shabbos @DoubleAA that is just an expression not an actual standardized part of a siddur. |

If Avraham had a healing stone why did he need an angel to heal him? if i remember correctly, the gamoroh says that when Avrohom Ovinu passed away, HaShem took the stone and placed it to hang under the sun. i dont know which famous star is located under the sun but maybe it refers to that, and people in that community in which the tanna/amora lived in believed that star had healing powers. also the gamoroh says that its a famous saying, as the day goes by the sickness becomes weakened. now regarding the angel, RaMbaM holds that those angels were not angels but prophets. I am not sure that he says one prophet came to heal Avrohom Ovinu. the kashya is on Rashi. |

Who are the Yekis? There is a lot in common between yekis and original teimoni minhagim. Both are said to be original yerushalmi minhagim. |

Hair Covering Before Marriage? Where in NYC did you see teimoni girls wear a double head covering? I pray at 2 teimoni shuls and been at a third. I have yet to hear from anyone in the shul that their daughters cover their hair like this. I personally ask because I want a shedding that does cover their hair this way. |

Why does אין כאלקינו differ on שבת? I thought it was because the davening is so long, this was made shorter. (?) |
