comment Mezuza required on balcony door?
@SethJ - no I would really like to know for my new apartment. Seems like millions of people live in apartments with patios or balconies, so the answer should be well established by now.

comment Mezuza required on balcony door?
Clarifcation of question: Does a balcony door to a home need a mezuzah from a balcony. I had no consideration at all that an outside balcony needed a mezuzah. It is not covered; I wouldn't think it was a room at all.

Interesting how we have opposite views. I was thinking about entering the home, does the home need a mezuzah from a balcony. I should have worded my question: Does a balcony door to a home need a mezuzah from a balcony.

I see it could be different than a deck. A person could enter his home from the outside world via a deck. There is no roof, only a railing.
