Do Jews believe the content of Maccabees (I-IV) is true? @DoubleAA there's clearly a difference. The Torah was given by Hashem - so it's true. However it's not always to be taken literally- we need to learn the oral Torah to understand it. However the book of Maccabees was written by an (unknown) man with his own (possibly warped/bias) views. Who says we should take it as being true? |

Do Jews believe the content of Maccabees (I-IV) is true? I mean: could a believing Jew read this and take it for-granted that the content is true. If it had haskamot from leading Rabbinic authorities (like Rishonim/Acharonim) then I would say yes. |

Does the Kohen Gadol place his seal on oil used for the Menorah? +1 that's a really interesting answer... but wouldn't this still be considered 'miracle oil' ? |

squeezing lemon juice onto slush on shabbas @DoubleAA: The terms for food/drink used regarding the laws of squeezing is Ochel/Mashkeh (like in Birkot Hanehenin) however regarding Bishul / Baser VHalav the term used is davar yavesh/davar lach... so it seems fair here to use the definition of Ochel and Mashkeh. |

How old was Eisav when he fell into bad ways? how can you say both כל זמן ה שהיו קעניס לא היו נכרי' במעשיהם (which implies that after 13 his deeds were clear to all) and that which Siftei CHachamim says: וי״ל לאותן שתי שנים עשה בצנעה יאח״ב עשה בפרהסיא |

Why didn't Eliezer go straight to Avraham's family? @MonicaCellio I edited my question to take your comment into account |

Does the name Daniel really mean: 'G-d is my judge'? @DoubleAA, I changed the title... The other question certainly doesn't ask this (in any case the whole reference to 'Daniel' wasn't really part of the original question anyway) |

arab suicide bombers I think what he really meant to ask was: "What is the difference between self-sacrifice (Mesirut Nefesh) of a Jew and self-sacrifice of a gentile" |

Why didn't Eliezer go straight to Avraham's family? Nachor only got children when he was old (see Mikraot gedolot in end of Parshat Vayeira) so it's unlikely that the family was large |

Bread between fish and meat requires hamotzi? @msh210 when I say 'logical', what i mean is that the person has a genuine feeling that food #2 is Tafel to food #1 ... do you know of an example where this is not the case? |

Bread between fish and meat requires hamotzi? @msh210 Imagine there was no halachik requiremment to eat/drink something between fish-meat. Now can you tell me how exactly the bread is related to the fish/meat?.... ellah ma... the connection is halachik not a logical Ikar/Tafel intention |

the land from which you brought us out = Egypt? @SethJ If the gemora didn't hold of this assertion as a matter of fact - then what does it prove to bring a diyuk from Chumash in order to learn out a specific law / lesson? ... we could say... why is it written like that? STAM! |
