How can I know a rav has daas Torah @DoubleAA they dont have other daas because they are immerse in torah study from their youth so they have no time to learn other daas. There was a woman who immigrated to the USA who had lived in the same town as Rav Moshe Feinstein zt'l in russia. She was asked for stories about him and replied "I dont know of any, he was always learning." As for the siyata dshmaya, you cant know for sure, that's why i said to look for the top scholars of the generation as they would be closest to this. |

Answering Atheist about Torah miracles @DoubleAA large scale applications work because you can get away with using approximations. but to compute EXACTLY what will happen in reality requires infinite computations whether for large scale or small scale. BTW, i added some sources to the answer |

Is one a heretic if he does not believe in Kabbalah? @DoubleAA i was told by Rabbi Reuven Lauffer who has been paskening for people in ask the rabbi at ohr somayach for over 15 years regarding a difficult shayla i had: "I think that the question should be asked to an Adam Gadol. Rav Leff is a possibility or Rav Usher Weiss - both are Poskim of the highest caliber" |

Is one a heretic if he does not believe in Kabbalah? Rabbi Chaim of Volozhin quotes extensively from the zohar in the nefesh hachaim. the vilna gaon wrote extensive commentaries on the zohar as did the arizal and the ramchal. come on. how do you explain that? |

How can I know a rav has daas Torah @DoubleAA from here: "in simple (torah educated) people it is mixed with all types of influences and ideas from the street, or the like. And according to how great the mixture is, so too will be the diminishing of the percentage of "daas torah" . Therefore a man who is fit to be a reliable advisor is obligated to prepare in his heart "daas torah", 100% clean, with no trace of mixture of other daas whatsoever." |

Does torah study refine one's character? ok. but the torah is inherently holy and should help one even if he does not have proper intentions as the ramchal says in derech Hashem in the section on torah. |
