comment Difference in law between male and female adultery
Although the language of his question could be understood to be asking the same thing as my question, from the answer given there and how people discussed the question it seems like I'm posing a different question. I would like to know the philosophy behind the halacha.

Essentially. But I'm not limiting myself to that case alone. I see a trend in the halacha and I'm asking the question based on the assumption that the seeming trend is due to an underlying 'philosophy' out of which the halacha is borne.

@DoubleAA How is it still a duplicate? The other questions/answers are addressing the laws and their sources. I'm asking about the reasoning behind the laws and their sources. Not what or how we know but WHY.

@DoubleAA I'm talking about an extramarital affair and the law for a married man vs a married woman in more severe cases. The fact that you can find a somewhat related case that is more sever for a man than a woman does not, I think, undermine my question. There still seems to be a distinction between men and women vis a vis relations with more than one of the opposite sex.

@andrewmh20 While you are technically correct, I did not want to get into technicalities and just ask the question with terms normally used in our culture. I suppose extramarital relations would have been more correct a term.

Can I find this letter of the Lubavitcher Rebbe online? Did he write it himself?

comment Are girls allowed to touch themselves?
My somewhat educated guess would be that it depends. If an outlet for those thoughts are available (she's with her husband) I would imagine it's ok and maybe even positive. If the husband is not around, it might be an issue, although maybe not a prohibition per se. I'm not sure.
