comment Is a person obligated to purchase life insurance?
That's a good question. I think you would have to ask such a person or his Rabbi who told him to live that way.

comment Why wasn't the Torah given to klal Yisroel as a DVD?
I really like the various premises assumed in your question and think that the answer(s) can bring out some truly fundamental points of what Torah is. In a similar vein I was always amazed that the Torah was given at the point in history that it was, and that the Gemarah was sealed when it was. Cows, wagons, swords, chariots, etc.

comment Is a person obligated to purchase life insurance?
@DoubleAA Got it. I think I just got a bit confused. I was not proposing an overall solution or fix to the 'kolel problem'. I wasn't "tofes" anything, I was just asking a question.

comment Is a person obligated to purchase life insurance?
@DoubleAA Why should it matter what prompted the question? Is there only ever one valid question to ask about any given situation?

comment What is the correct kavanah when going to war?
"with the intention of sanctifying God's name alone" This is a good start. Everything else the Rambam is stating can be understood as how the soldier needs to ACT, but the quoted sentence starts speaking to the thoughts and intentions of the soldier.

Clarified the intention of my second question.

comment Why is Darchei Moshe split into two versions: the short (Hakatzer) and the long (Ha'aruch)?
@DoubleAA I agree but I spelled it the way I have heard most people say the word. I guess it's similar to how people say "Sha'ar Tzion" in the Mishna Berurah when really it's Sha'ar Tziun.
