Thank you for the response 4 years later! :) I totally forgot that I even asked about this and it was nice reading this exchange again.

When I say "easy" I mean that there are not the same challenges that we had hundreds of years ago. And it would only become easier if more of us were doing it. (I have not yet made Aliya myself, and do not mean to insult anyone who has not. I am just looking for perspective as to why, in general, there is not a greater push for it, specifically for large religious communities.)

Thank you for sharing this perspective. Do you think the fact that about half of the world's (known) population of Jews are residing in Israel today makes a difference to any of these points. (i.e. If you believe that there can be an issue with parnassa or a question if the land is intrinsically holy, doesn't the fact that Jews are living there make for an argument that more Jews should come to live together?)

Thank you. I am hypocritical as I too have not made Aliyah yet for those same reasons - mainly wanting to stay close to family. I think that those issues would be different if everybody was doing it. The cultural changes would not be an issue if you and 10,000 of your closest friends and family all move to Israel at around the same time. My question was more why there has not been some major movement (in recent years I mean), especially among religious Jewish communities, to pick up and leave en masse. That said, I appreciate your answer.

@IsaacMoses I am asking for either a Halachic basis for why it is not happening, or for someone to tell me that it actually IS happening but it's just a slow process...

Aha, so it is not a continuous phrase in the posukim. That is what I could not easily find it via google. When people sing it, I hear "וּבְחֻצוֹת יְרוּשָׁלַים", but it clearly says "יְרוּשָׁלִַם". Is it being sung incorrectly?

Thank you. I appreciate that and am curious what you find. I hope that if anything, it at least leads to some interesting discussion at your Beis Medrash.

Thank you for clarifying this. So, do we understand that the whitening of the red wool must happen at the exact moment of the "whitening of sin"? I guess I am trying to understand how, if the whitening of the wool is miraculous anyway, it could possibly happen before the entire procedure is over. As I am typing this, I think that I understand, but I am curious if there is a source that thoroughly explains this. Is there?

Also, I will note that we are planning to go for 5 weeks, although I would guess that even not having access for a day might be a problem, no?

Thanks for the great information. I was more asking from the perspective of Halacha than whether or not it would be helpful to have. As far as I understand, the Halacha is that a couple should not be together if the woman does not have access to the kesubah. I was wondering if being ~7000 miles is considered not having access.
