comment Why don't we thank God for making us men/women?
@devirkahan I think the point is that if it were stated in the positive you would not be highlighting the issue of Mitzvot. By saying "making me free" that is a positive quality. The emphasis is on the quality of freedom. If it is stated in the negative it allows for the quality of Mitzvot to emerge and then a progression. In other words, to say thank you for not making me a gentile, slave and woman it begs the question "What quality in each of these are we thankful that we don't have?"

comment Why do you have to kasher kitchen counters for Pesach?
@NoachmiFrankfurt Assuming as you said, Chametz did get on to them, wouldn't the only concern be if you would put something very hot onto the counter during Pesach? For example if extremely hot food landed on the counter during Pesach? Otherwise there should be no problem. Correct?

comment Does God's providence extend to all people or only righteous people?
@Yossi Divine Providence is a deep subject. It really is the study of the entire Torah. I am merely focusing on one aspect of this deep and complex issue. Does Divine Providence when extended to individual man (as opposed to the nation) apply to only righteous people or even your average person? However, your point is well taken that Divine providence applies to more things than man.

comment How did Vashti grow a tail?
@gt6989b Thank you. I am not sure why Gavriel was the Angel of choice. I am not sure also what you mean by breaking the rules. The use of an Angel is a metaphor for some causative agent that allowed Vashti to perceive an idea that under normal circumstances would be beyond her. I am not certain what the specific agent of "Gavriel" teaches us. Something to think about. Thanks.
