comment Why is techeles not universally accepted?
It is sort of a duplicate, except with more info in the question. The answers there don't deal with all the issues I've mentioned here, and I'd like to see more discussion on the subject...

Wow, I asked for sources, and got them in abundance! Thanks for a really well researched answer!

comment Passing an infant across a table
This is a question that can only be answered in one direction - if anyone can say "Yes". Nobody will be able to state definitively that there is no such custom... so if nobody answers, consider it a "No"... ;)

comment Is it permissible to erase the name of G-d from an E-reader?
Just an interesting point - more a comment than an answer - if you have a concern about erasing G-d's name from an e-reader, then you should also be concerned about saving any file to disk that contains G-d's name. The fact is that the Name is then encrypted in physical hardware in what is effectively just a different language, which can be read by a computer. G-d's Name is sacred in any language. So maybe you should also be concerned about erasing files that contain G-d's name?

comment Where's Piece Number 10?
Funnily enough, this actually happened to me a few years ago! I had made a mental note of where I'd hidden all 10 pieces, then I couldn't find the last one where I thought it was. I lost years of my life in the 5 minutes between discovering the loss... and finding the missing chometz, still in my pocket...! Since then I've always kept a written list of all the hiding places!

comment How did Rambam eliminate “ben gilo” from the halacha?
Yes, I did see the gemara in Nedarim, but it only adds to the kashya - once again, there's the "ben gilo" in the gemara that failed to make it into halacha...

@Yaakov, OK point taken. So maybe the "10 tribes" were really 9... doesn't really affect the point I'm making here... :)
