Or perhaps rule 195 is that there is no rule 195.

comment Rule 195 of Ayelet Hashachar by the Malbim
@Cauthon, you might have solved the mystery. I have a theory that the Malbim left it out on purpose to prevent people from abusing his 613 rules and darshan Torah for themselves. Perhaps the Malbim used that pasik to do this. I am guessing that none of this is by accident.

I'm not sure I understand what Isaiah has to do with my question. Can you please explain?

comment How can a Jewish convict repair public Chillul Hashem?
@DanF It is public record that he is in jail. Jail is "paying one's debt to society". He has been humiliated greatly from this; I would think it also pays for the chillul Hashem. People know that Jews aren't perfect and don't expect them to be perfect. A chillul Hashem is created when people get the impression that it is the Torah or Hashem that is at fault. It is Jews who do the right thing who atone for this. That's just my opinion.

comment Hillel's formulation of the Golden Rule
I see. I found this, which is similar to what I heard about the interpretation of what the goy wanted: torah.org/learning/parsha-insights/5761/achareimos.html#

comment Hillel's formulation of the Golden Rule
Where does it say it the Talmud that the goy was being sarcastic? And if he was sarcastic, then why did Hillel even answer him? The interpretation I have heard from Rabbi Gershonfeld is that "standing on one foot" meant that the goy had an unstable foundation of Judaism and wanted to understand it better. Shammai's approach scared him away, while Hillel's approach helped him.

comment Are there traditional Orthodox websites that counter thetorah.com?
As I recall, the book amazon.com/The-Pentateuch-Haftorahs-Translation-Commentary/dp/… has detailed arguments against the view that the Torah has multiple authors.

I can understand why you would want a Torah scholar to help you out, but what do you need a mekubal for?
