Dialogue Between Jews and Romans in Jewish Tradition Sorry, I'm sure it's a language issue, but I don't understand what you mean here. Do you want to know what Jewish tradition says about Romans? About the Roman Empire? About the Roman people? About Italians? (so... post 18th century?) About the government of Italy? |

Is the winding פ in this sefer torah kosher? @msh210 that is simply the letter wearing away - the question seemed to be about the style. |

Synthetic unkosher meat? Also, see the sources cited in this answer for cows giving birth to kosher camels. |

Synthetic unkosher meat? @Daniel After poking around, it looks like spontaneously generated meat is not necessarily kosher - only if it's spontaneously generated inside a kosher animal (see halakhot on worms in fish). However, I think we can apply the same halakhic theory to lab experiments that Chazal did to supposed spontaneously-generated animals. Here's a good explanation of some of those halakhot but does not include kashrut ramifications. |

Synthetic unkosher meat? Wouldn't that fall in the category of spontaneously generated meat and therefore kosher and parve? |

Why did the 40th-year Jews think they'd erred about Av? Sanhedrin had declared it @shachna we often have multiple layers for the observance of holidays. See Avodah Zarah 8a on Chanukah. |

What is the difference between Orthodox, Reform and Conservative? (Re: Theology) @Menachem that question asks about practices. This about theology. |

What is the difference between Orthodox, Reform and Conservative? (Re: Theology) The Conservative position you described accounts for much of the leadership and the CJLS but not laypeople, who tend to fall out on one side or the other. But then again, that's true with each of these movements - as they say, "individual results may vary." |

How can God be just in light of Deuteronomy 23:3? Just as a side point, the definition of "bastard"/*mamzer* has been so constrained by the early rabbis of the Talmud that it almost never happens. For example, if a married woman's husband is overseas and she becomes pregnant, you assume that the husband must have come back in the middle of the night, unbeknownst to anyone including the woman, and impregnated her. This doesn't mean this discussion is invalid (since it's still a law in the Torah and worthy of debate), just that it doesn't come up much in practice. |

Why is learning Torah today harder than 1000 years ago? @IsaacMoses Actually, pre-industrial societies tended to have more free time. However, there was more disease, starvation, and less literacy. Also, more frequent crusades. In all, I think we're better off now, but not in terms of free time. |

Why say Hashem wrote the torah? Another example: Stephen Hawking doesn't "write" his books, though that's the word we use. |

Proper way to refer to a makom ervah when speaking to a child @Dave but I do understand wanting to avoid anatomical terms. I was put off the first time I heard the idea.... |

Proper way to refer to a makom ervah when speaking to a child @Dave - when someone who isn't the parent is, G-d forbid, asking the child where the person touched them, it's nice for them to be able to tell people. |
