Is it permissible to be mechalel shabbos to save a fetus? Where do you learn that there's any implication that this is to save the woman's fetus? Every time I've read this, it's been entirely woman-focused. |

Does the mitzvah to return a lost object apply to aveirah items? @DoubleAA well played. I retract that comment. |

Does the mitzvah to return a lost object apply to aveirah items? @DoubleAA then how can it be an aveira to own chametz on Pesach? |

Does the mitzvah to return a lost object apply to aveirah items? Let's make it easy and say the object is a freeze-dried cheeseburger. You can't benefit from it, you can't eat it, etc. And it doesn't spoil. At least smart phone, even if you think it's assur to own, you can still sell it! Is that acceptable, PM? ping @DoubleAA |

Why did Avraham take gifts from Pharaoh, but not the King of Sodom? @msh210 I apologize for being so picky on such and old post. But I would say this: Observance has to do with observance of halakha. Religiosity has to do with participation in religion. There are many non-observant Reform Jews (and a few observant ones but that's unrelated). |

Dan LeChaf Zechuth - Exceptions? @DoubleAA Fair. I guess my argument is that it's pshita that you should judge others favorably because "am kodesh atah", but that you need the principle specifically in the case of a rasha (and moreso in the case of bein adam l'chavero than laMakom) |

Dan LeChaf Zechuth - Exceptions? How can you say that this "proven rasha" hasn't made teshuva? Isn't that antithetical to this principle? |
