Just for the record, they also dye niputz lishmah tzitzit, which are not made in-house. I can't remember which company supplies them with niputz lishmah strings.

comment List of Techelet Wearers
I saw Rav Berl Wein with techelet (tied Rambam) on his tallis gadol. I didn't notice whether he had it on his tallis katan.

comment Can a non-Jew don tefillin?
Also, it seems to me that a distinction should be drawn between tallit and tefillin. We don't sell tefillin to a non-Jew because we don't trust him to be careful enough when it comes to kedushas tefillin, but the Gemara gives a very different reason (really two reasons) not to sell a tallit to a non-Jew (see Menachos 43a).

comment Can a non-Jew don tefillin?
I'm very curious about this issue. If a ger is required to wear tefillin starting on the day of his conversion, how can he do the mitzvah if he's wholly unfamiliar with it.

comment Rambam Tzitzith: 7 or 13 chulyoth?
@CharlesKoppelman and WAF - I am, indeed, the owner. We tie a lot of Rambam, usually 7 chulyoth. The quotation you cited was based on a Yemenite Yid down the street, who did not sound so authoritative, so I wrote that, but I'm not sure it's accurate.

comment Little knots of wool on the bottom/side of the Tzitzit
Makes sense. But that would mean they are largely superfluous if you wear a tallis katan with a T-opening in front.

comment What's the story with “undershirt Tzitzis”?
As I recall, HaRav Binyomin Zilber zt"l addresses this question in Az Nidberu, and he learns that a t-shirt tzitzit is more problematic because it's not just liable to absorb sweat, but is made to absorb sweat. Also, it should be noted that what are referred to commercially as "t-shirt tzitzit" vary dramatically in design. Some of them are mamash like a t-shirt, while others are close to a traditional cotton tallis katan, only they are designed to stay in place better.
