I am a teacher of Navi to 6th and 7th graders as well as a technology teacher to grades k-3 in a Jewish Day School in Stamford, CT. I am married and have four wonderful children who keep me on my toes.

comment Proper age to take a child to Shul
(Note: My girls do not go to shul. My Rebbi's wife said that "in Europe", the girls only went to shul for Shabbas Kallah. In addition, this promotes the problem of kids being around the shul as the wife feels she has to go to shul.) I completely disagree, why should the woman feel she has to go to shul, shouldn't she be going? I take offense to this.

On the same lines, is it okay to slightly change the name in order to name after someone from the opposite gender of the baby?

I think the question becomes, how is that? Are their other mitzvot we do, aside from food, that allow us to do the SAME mitzvah multiple times each with its own bracha? Do we commonly do them? (I will amend the question accordingly.
