Hefsek (in this context) is an interruption in the act of doing something. An example is speaking to your buddy in the middle of prayers.
Not to be confused with:
- chatzitza, a barrier preventing a fluid from touching a surface
- hefsek (in a different context), or m'chitza, a barrier to sight or the like
