Can somone provide some background for this like who was on it and what the Beis Din addressed and what was Napoleons motivation for it and what was the Jewish response?

I "got to" meaning I was allowed to (as in "no fair! He got to clean the floor and I didn't!") or I "got to" meaning I must (i.e., I have got to)? I don't understand either one, so perhaps there's some other meaning I'm missing.... – msh210♦ Feb 2 '11 at 3:50
msh210, It does not sound like a real Beis Din to me! Sanctioning intermarriage among other things is not within the authority of the Sanhedrin (unless it is Zimri's Sanhedrin! ;-) – Yahu Feb 2 '11 at 23:31

R'Yahu, I agree. Are you saying that what I linked to must not be what the questioner meant, inasmuch as I linked to a faux bes din and he asked about a real one? Perhaps you're right, but I suspect he was referring to the one I linked to. – msh210♦ Feb 2 '11 at 23:43
