Mi Yodeya is a question and answer site for those who base their lives on Jewish law and tradition and anyone interested in learning more. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I have read numerous divrei chazal that associate the avot with the number 3, or three aspects of something e.g. torah, avodah and gemilut chassadim (from pirkei avot, chapter 1).

I am looking for a list of others. Please say which forefather corresponds to what and why.

each was metaken the 3 flaws of kina, taava, and kavod which are the roots of all evil as mentioned in pirket avot and discussed here: dafyomireview.com/audio/m04-3_flaws_of_man_and_role_of_jews.mp3 –  ray Nov 2 '13 at 20:57

i dont see how this is different to the 'mi yodea' streams. It is interesting to link the avot to a number of different things, e.g. pesach, shavuot and succot with chesed, gevurah and tiferet. i dont think that this is beyond the scope of this forum. It would be great to link different things and broaden the scope of our understanding of our avot - within the realm of chazal. i will edit the question later. –  bondonk Nov 4 '13 at 19:06
