Mi Yodeya is a question and answer site for those who base their lives on Jewish law and tradition and anyone interested in learning more. It's 100% free, no registration required.

There is a very popular short story on the web called The Egg which has as it's main thrust that all human being are really the same person, just born in countless reincarnations.

I was wondering is it possible/allowed to consider something similar, taking into account those who take the Neshama's being a "Chelek Eloka Mi'Maal" literally, and the Zohar who says "קודשא בריך הוא ואורייתא וישראל חד הוא".

Overly literal reads of Kabbalistic works are never a good idea. –  Double AA Aug 19 '13 at 0:23
I don't know enough Hebrew to do the "take into account" part. Please translate... I read the story, though. Interesting idea at first but following it to its logical conclusion appears to lead to absurdities... –  Gary Aug 21 '13 at 14:19
