There is a story that Hezekiah discovers scriptures. What scriptures did Hezekiah discover?
- Is it Torah?
- Is it the last copy?
The reason #2 is important is if it's the last copy, then our whole scripture dates back to a copy mysteriously discovered by a politician.
Just like christianity may be a religion invented by Paul, this could make Judaism "invented" by Hezekiah.
However, if Hezekiah doesn't really have the last copy and many other jews also keep their copies, what's so significant with what Hezekiah found anyway?
So Hezekiah effectively said, "Ah ha, I found copies of holy scriptures. Scribes, lets' verify that this copy is similar to the prevailing copies on our people's databases." That means he's not discovering anything new then. There are plenty of such copies anyway.
